From now on, drivers of the Stint must be 18 years or older and have completed driving skills training, and ten children may be transported in the new Stint, the childcare sector and Minister Cora van Nieuwenhuizen have agreed.

That is stated in the letter to parliament Covenant Stint with which Minister Van Nieuwenhuizen informs the House of Representatives about the state of affairs. Both the Ministry and the RDW are in constant dialogue with the manufacturer and advise him on the admission process. The most recent conversation between the manufacturer of the Stint and the RDW took place on July 2, 2019 at the Ministry.

All parties are each working in their role to get the new Stint back on the road at the start of the new school year. It has been agreed between the manufacturer, the RDW and the Ministry to keep the lines short so that no time is lost unnecessarily.

Inspectorate SZW for tipping hazard

In addition, the Minister informs the House that she received a letter from the Social Affairs and Employment Inspectorate on 1 July 2019. In this letter, the Inspectorate SZW indicates that it has carried out an investigation into Stints comparable to the Stint involved in the accident in Oss on behalf of the Public Prosecution Service.

Based on the findings of the investigation, the Inspectorate SZW points out the risk of tipping, the measures against tipping, the view from the driver's seat and the signaling of this type of vehicle. The Inspectorate SZW recommends including these points in the risk assessment of vehicles based on the interim framework that applies to the designation of special mopeds.

Supervision of the covenant through an independent committee

Cora van Nieuwenhuizen assumes that users of a new Stint will use it with the greatest possible care, partly due to the motion that some form of supervision will be organized. The sector has shown its willingness to set up an independent committee to monitor compliance with the covenant.
