Transavia France can continue to grow considerably in the coming years. There is a final agreement between the parent company Air France and the pilots union SNPL. Previous agreements limited the size of the fleet, but now there is a deal that will remove that ceiling.

Air France founded Transavia France in 2007. The airline has the same name and appearance as Transavia in the Netherlands and also focuses on holiday flights, from bases in Paris, Lyon and Nantes.

On the French market, Air France faces competition from foreign companies such as Ryanair and easyJet, which means that it needs a stronger position for Transavia. However, old agreements with Air France pilots stipulated that Transavia France should not grow above forty aircraft.

That blockade is now definitively gone, Air France reports. As a result, expansion of the fleet, which now consists of 37 Boeing 737-800s, can be implemented. Air France-KLM is expected to sign a large order for the Boeing 737 MAX to renew and expand the joint fleet of the Dutch and French Transavia.

Due to the problems with the type, it has not yet been formalized or announced. Air France did order sixty Airbus A220-300s. These are intended to replace the Airbus A318's and A319's in its own fleet.
