KLM is today canceling flights because of the KLM ground staff strike at Schiphol. Affected passengers were approached directly to rebook their flight. According to a spokesperson, everyone has succeeded.

In a response, KLM announces that the new KLM ground crew strike notice is 'incomprehensible and unnecessary'. After the first work interruption last Monday morning, there has been no response from KLM, according to FNV director Jan van den Brink.

“Staking dupes the traveler and costs money that we would rather invest in our company and an attractive profit sharing for our employees.”

KLM calls the cancellation of flights a preventive measure to limit the inconvenience of travelers. Passengers are advised to keep an eye on KLM's website or app tonight and tomorrow morning.

The KLM ground crew strike lasts from 08.00:10.00 to XNUMX:XNUMX. At the announcement of the action the FNV union said it expected many delays and cancellations last night.

FNV and KLM have been negotiating a new collective labor agreement for months. Among other things, the union wants the 15.000 ground workers to receive an additional eight percent wages in two years. The union also wants more permanent employees and less flexible schedules. FNV had given KLM until Friday to respond to the requirements.

The union realizes that the strike can lead to nuisance and unpleasant situations. Van den Brink: 'The ground staff wants nothing more than to give travelers a pleasant journey. This strike is therefore entirely the responsibility of the KLM management. '
