Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport, Hugo de Jonge has informed the House by letter about the increase in the personal mileage budgets Valys by 100 km in December 2018 and in the year 2019. This increase applies to both the 'standard'pkb for all cardholders as for the'high'PKB for pass holders with an indication to that effect, which has been determined to be unable to travel by train / public transport, given the nature and seriousness of their disability.

In the aforementioned letter, the Minister promised to monitor the effects of the increase in PKBs on the Valys travel behavior of pass holders, partly on the basis of the use of the Valys facility in 2019 and within the context of the The amount of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport budget made available for Valys, to take a decision on the amount of the PKBs in 2020.

Available information up to and including September 2019 shows that the increase in the Valys pkb's has had a positive effect on the mobility of Valys travelers. The granting of the 100 extra kilometers from 1 December 2018 in that month has led to a significant increase in the number of journeys and kilometers driven by approximately 30% compared to December 2017. 

The period from January to September 2019 also shows an increase in the number of trips and kilometers driven compared to the same period a year earlier. Based on the current insight, it is expected that the budget made available by the House for 2019 will be sufficient and will be (almost) completely exhausted.

In view of the above, Minister Hugo de Jonge has decided the height of both the 'standard pkb' if it 'high pkbfor the year 2020 to be set at the same level as in 2019.
