The Amsterdam Transport Region has decided to extend the term of the public transport concession Amstelland-Meerlanden by five years. The total Connexxion term of the concession thus amounts to fifteen years and ends in December 2032.

The Amstelland-Meerlanden concession started on 10 December 2017 for a ten-year period, with the option of extending this period by five years. Connexxion Openbaar Vervoer NV recently submitted a written request to the Amsterdam Transport Region for this extension.

To approve the extension of the duration, a number of criteria must be met. For example, the transporter must invest in zero-emission buses and associated means of production no later than five years after the start of the concession. The public transport customer barometer must also show that the passenger's transport is rated with a minimum of 7,2 from the start of the concession. Furthermore, the carrier must have sufficiently fulfilled his obligations from the start of the concession. Because Connexxion has met all criteria, the executive board has agreed to an extension of the concession period.

Under Article 7: 1, paragraph 1 of the General Administrative Law Act, interested parties can submit a reasoned objection against the decision to extend the Amstelland-Meerlanden concession to the executive board of the Amsterdam Transport Region within six weeks of its publication on 6 December 2019. . In urgent cases, an interested party can submit a request for provisional relief to the Preliminary Relief Judge of the Trade and Industry Appeals Tribunal.
