Last week, Zeeland was shaken up with striking news that is bad for the province. One of the largest employers is in dire straits and the marines barracks will probably never open in Vlissingen. The municipality of Vlissingen adheres uncompromisingly to the promised marines barracks for Vlissingen and refuses to talk about compensation.

TCR staff is concerned

Omroep Zeeland indicates that it has a letter in which the works council of the bus transport states that it regrets that concern has arisen about the lack of a large part of the salary payments at the TCR Group in Middelburg. 

Part of the TCR Group is Connexxion Tours, which has several locations throughout the Netherlands. Connexxion Tours BV, also trading under the name Connexxion Projexx and Transdev Nederland Tours, is also located at Industrieweg in Middelburg and became the property of Klaver Vier BV in February 2018, part of the financial holding company that also houses Hala BV, also known as van Fraassen Traveling, and TCR Public Transport.

After averting the main concerns for the payment of the salary for the month of January, it remains to be seen what will happen in the coming weeks. Suppliers who supply goods or services to the transport company are also worried now that payment arrears are also weighing heavily there. Employees of a temporary employment agency have also heard from their management that they are not allowed to work for TCR until further notice because bills remain unpaid.

longer problems for carrier

The carrier from Middelburg has not really prospered in recent years. The winning of important tenders was not forthcoming and the Arduin Foundation, which itself also had some problems, said goodbye to TCR. 

The Foundation made a second attempt to better and more efficiently arrange the transportation of clients to and from their daytime activities. Arduin left the transport in the preceding years to the transport company TCR. DAM / NOOT took over the transport of clients from transport company TCR. The Foundation promised to 'improve' and 'make transport more sustainable'.
