The Turkish / Dutch travel organization Corendon cancels all trips up to and including March 31, 2020 due to global measures surrounding the corona virus. CEO Steven van der Heijden believes that there is a very high risk that public life at a holiday destination will come to a standstill and there is a chance that someone in his accommodation will have to deal with quarantine measures as a result of infections.

Despite the announcement, flights could still be booked on the travel agency's website today. It is likely that even more countries will impose restrictions on travelers in the coming days. In addition, Corendon fears that customers at the holiday destination may not be able to offer the holiday they are expecting at this time due to restrictions imposed by local authorities or in the near future.

Corendon today informs its customers by e-mail about the decision and next steps. Holidays and flights are canceled, but customers have not lost their money. They keep the amount paid to Corendon as credit for a subsequent vacation.

Steven van der Heijden (54) became Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with effect from 1 September 2019 and heads the travel organization Corendon. He succeeded Corendon founder Atilay Uslu in this position. For the past ten years, van der Heijden led the market leader TUI Netherlands, known for brands such as Arke, KRAS and Holland International.
