With the recently launched protocol 'Safe student transport and safe childcare transport'the student transport and childcare transport can start as of 11 May in a normal way. This is stated by the business association KNV Zorgtransport and Taxi and trade unions FNV and CNV Vaknemers.

The protocol is in line with the general measures of RIVM and the protocol for and working method in special primary education and translates these into measures for transporters and drivers. The parties are pleased that the protocol is in place and that there are now clear guidelines so that transporters and drivers can prepare quietly for the reopening of the schools.

It is not necessary for children in student transport to observe at least one and a half meters. RIVM states this on the basis of the protocols for (special) primary education. No additional measures need to be taken to prevent contact between the driver and the students. Personal protective equipment or the installation of a physical partition are therefore not necessary.

The parties do consider it important that certain principles are observed, so that transport can be carried out safely and responsibly. This means that parents make sure that children are ready as much as possible. Parents also remain a meter and a half away from the vehicle. The driver ensures safe use of seat belts during student transport and ensures that a wheelchair is secured.

Drivers and entrepreneurs still have questions about testing drivers for COVID19. CNV, KNV and FNV understood from RIVM that the test policy is still under development and have already called for drivers to be included in the test policy.
