Any non-essential travel to Belgium and from Belgium abroad will remain prohibited until June 8, 2020. The Belgian conora crisis center announced this in a document with corona measures that will take effect on Monday. Shopping across the border will not remain possible, but there are some changes measures with regard to the exceptions when schools in Belgium open again from May 18. 

Several hundred children and young people from Zeeland Flanders follow education about the border crossing. They may travel to and from school without hindrance if lessons are resumed. And of course Commuting has always been allowed since Belgium closed border crossings and introduced controls elsewhere on 20 March. Other reasons for crossing the border include medical care, animal care and travel to a partner who does not live under the same roof.

When Monday enters the first phase of the exit strategy with the southern neighbors, Belgian supermarkets will be allowed to sell surgical mouth masks. Supermarkets are allowed to sell regular surgical mouth masks from Monday. The federal government has decided that, on the advice of the group of experts on the exit strategy from the corona measures.

As of Monday, wearing a mouth and nose protection is strongly recommended for people from 12 years old in public areas where physical distance is not possible, and mandatory in public transport.
