Taxi companies are out of work due to the corona crisis. But they do have to pay a tax to Flanders annually per vehicle. Therefore, the local branch of N-VA Zonnebeke will be on the digital city council next Monday with an added agenda item introduce that the municipality will refund those taxes.

"It looks like taxi companies will have a hard time after most of the corona measures have been lifted," says group leader Koen Descheemaeker. "We therefore propose that the municipality repay half of the taxes."

According to the newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, it is indeed a municipal tax that must be collected, but with a thorough motivation, the municipality can still repay it as a gift. Now taxi companies have to pay taxes while they have no income.
