Several drivers did not return to work at STIB in Brussels this morning. As a result, there is no bus traffic on 16 of the 46 bus lines. The trams run, but at a lower frequency. There are no problems with the metro. The strike has to do with the corona crisis and the restart of public transport.

STIB staff had already threatened to stop work on Mother's Day if security measures were not increased. According to several union members, up to 80 percent of the staff would be willing to leave work on Monday. It is important to emphasize that these requirements are formulated by individual union members, and are therefore not supported by official union bodies.

The drivers have mouth masks. In any case, all driver posts are safely separated, as an extra measure, the seats closest to the driver's cabin are also closed. In addition, all vehicles are cleaned before they leave the depot and the vehicles are also cleaned when there is a driver change. The drivers also received disinfectant spray.
