The use of public space has been increasing again for several weeks. After the first relaxation of the corona measures, people go out more often and it is getting busier. At the same time, the audience must keep a distance of 1,5 meters from each other. It is therefore important to carefully consider the possibilities of being able to re-use a large part of the public space, while keeping a safe distance is stimulated and remains feasible.

With this initiative, VNG, Stadswerk and CROW are joining forces to support municipalities and other authorities in the question of how to implement this task. Every municipality is different. Every situation is different. At the same time, municipalities also face similar challenges.

On the website Maaksamenruimte.nl they will bundle and share knowledge and experiences that will be gained in the country during the organization of the 1,5 meter society. About what works, what works where and what does not work (anymore). Where there are knowledge gaps, we will supplement them with guidelines and support products. We do this together with a growing network of experts and based on the input and questions from municipalities and other governments.

Association of Dutch Municipalities (VNG)

The Dutch Municipalities Association (VNG) consists of 355 Dutch municipalities that work together on a strong local government. Together, the municipalities form a strong network for knowledge development and mutual knowledge sharing, in which we work together with each other and with other parties to improve municipal implementation and services and the major social and administrative challenges that are facing us.

Dutch City Work Association

Stadswerk has been the association of active municipalities, committed professionals and enthusiastic entrepreneurs in and around public space for 100 years. An excellent network that continues to work on solutions for issues in public space. It is therefore the place where public space gains in quality on the way to a Future Green City; a green and sustainable and future-proof public space in every respect. At Stadswerk we don't tell you how to do it, but you learn from each other how it is possible. And all 17 million users of public space benefit from this every day!

CROW

CROW was founded in 1987 by governments and market parties and has more than 100 employees. We are a non-profit foundation, but operate as a company with 15 self-organizing teams. As a knowledge platform, we develop guidelines, training and practical tools for infrastructure, public space, traffic and (public) transport and for tendering and contracting. Governments and market parties use these in formulating and implementing policy and in tendering processes. We look at issues in conjunction and make connections between areas of activity, between policy and practice, between contractors and clients and between past, present and future. CROW works together with the sectors on a safe and well-organized Netherlands.
