If you, as a traveler, want to cancel a holiday yourself because you are afraid of leaving because of the danger of corona, it costs money. Rebooking is only possible in consultation with the provider. Nor is fear a reason for insurers to pay. Only the trips that tour operators and airlines have canceled are good for money back or a voucher.

All previously booked trips to countries that do not have a yellow or green code prior to the departure date may be eligible for one return of the money or a voucher. Some people have already booked and want to know if their journey can continue. Others are eager to book and wonder when that is indeed possible. The short answer to all questions is that we can indeed go on holiday this summer, but not just anywhere and there are uncertainties anyway.

consult the local travel agent

According to a spokeswoman, TUI will wait a while until there is 100% clarity from the Dutch government and the holiday countries. "We will start limited to the sun starting in July."Nevertheless, a spokesperson for the tour operator called for the slogan also for booking the holiday"support your locals'and go to the small travel agent in the village to book the trip this year.

Transavia will start flying to Faro, Lisbon, Malaga and Athens on Thursday, followed by Alicante and Porto. As of June 18, twenty destinations will be added in Spain, Italy, Greece, France and Croatia. At the end of June they will be on 175 flights a week. From Schiphol and from Rotterdam and Eindhoven. KLM and easyJet are also increasing the flights.

inquire in advance

If you're not bound by the school holidays, consider going out of season anyway to avoid crowds. And for all of us, we have to take into account that the situation in a holiday destination can change quickly. So it will be a different summer holiday than usual. The main advice is: think carefully about what you are doing and if you do go on holiday, then travel wisely. So prepare yourself well, know the rules in the country of destination and above all: make sure that you are always kept up to date during your holiday, for example via the travel app of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
