Now that the tourist industry is starting to get going again after a period of stagnation, tourists will probably remain calm in Spain, the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands for the time being. The various reports may make this seem different. For example, Transavia has been flying to Malaga since 4 June. This probably gives the impression to many tourists that you can go on holiday to Spain from that time on. However, this is not the case. It is raining complaints from angry passengers on Twitter.

Commercial flights are allowed between the islands of the Balearic Islands. This also applies to the Canary Islands themselves. Spain and America are most affected by the corona virus. Spain and America have not lost their place in the top 10 most popular holiday destinations due to the corona virus.

In the top 10 popular holiday destinations, Spain occurs five times:

  1. Andalusia
  2. Florida (USA)
  3. Canary Islands
  4. Faro (Portugal)
  5. Valencia
  6. Balearic Islands
  7. California (USA)
  8. The Vegas, Nevada)
  9. Catalonia
  10. Texas (USA)

Until now, negative travel advice still applies to Spain, which you can also find on the website from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Until July 1, the borders are closed to tourists. The Spanish government calls for travel to Spain only if necessary. Travel is only allowed for Spaniards and foreign residents (owners of a second home in Spain) and for people who have to travel to Spain through emergency or force majeure.

Everyone who enters Spain from May 15 is obliged to quarantine in their home for 14 days. The Canary Islands is the least affected region of Europe and the world. The high season only starts again in October in the Canary Islands. Hopefully air traffic and tourism will start up for them before then.
