Flixbus is a mobility provider that has been transporting millions of people over long distances within Europe since 2013. With their green buses, they have the high comfort, safety and environmental standards and offer a sustainable and comfortable alternative to individual transport. Earlier this year, she announced that she was starting a trial to reduce CO2 emissions and with solar panels on the bus.

“We strive to do so climate neutral travel and make climate-friendly travel accessible to as many people as possible, ”says Jesper Vis, managing director of FlixBus Benelux. “This pilot project with solar panels is just one pilot project in a series of initiatives and climate-friendly projects for our travelers. Based on the first results, we will evaluate to what extent we will extend this test to more buses or even all buses in the network. ”

Like many other companies, Flixbus has also been affected by the measures taken during the corona crisis. From June 18, Flixbus will restart its timetable in the Netherlands, France and Belgium. Last month they already started the timetable in Denmark, Austria, Poland and Germany. In the Netherlands, they will be driving again from Seven cities (Utrecht, Rotterdam, Nijmegen, Maastricht, Groningen, The Hague and Amsterdam) to more than 30 European cities.

However, there are strict measures that everyone must adhere to. This is to provide passengers and employees with maximum protection against the corona virus. There are a limited number of seats available, passengers must wear a face mask. After each trip, the buses are disinfected, you can only get off at the back of the bus. The bus tickets are checked without contact, and there are various disinfectants on board. The one and a half meter rule must be used both on the bus and at the boarding point.

“We are resuming the connections that are most in demand among our travelers. These are mainly destinations in Germany, Belgium and France where many travelers go to visit friends and family. Cities are then gradually added so that the timetable can roll out properly, ”says Jesper Vis, managing director of Flixbus.
