Many workers who have more or less been working from home in the past period are positive about this, according to a representative survey of the ANWB among 2.000 Dutch people. About 60% want to keep two or more home working days after the crisis. The fact that the ANWB finds a positive sentiment among the home workers offers, with the right approach, opportunities for rush-hour travel without delay.

The ANWB detects a sharp decrease in traffic jams during rush hours thanks to working from home, while the traffic intensity on the roads is at the same level as for corona. The ANWB therefore wants to use the positive sentiment about working from home to reduce crowds during rush hours.

Employers must now start working on a home-work policy for the period after the corona crisis, says the ANWB. Not only to meet the wishes of the employees working from home, but also to limit traffic jams during rush hours and to remove rush hour in public transport. People who have no alternative can travel comfortably and without delay. Also advocated the ANWB the use of the bicycle or e-bike. Earlier research by the ANWB already indicated that 27% of Dutch people want to travel by bicycle or e-bike more often.
Only 21% of survey participants want to go to the office every day. 67% of people who already had home-working experiences say they want to do that even more often. Whether this is also possible depends largely on the attitude and policy of the employer, according to 71% of the home workers.

The results of the survey are in line with the sentiment of ANWB employees working from home. Research among 1.200 employees shows that they are even more positive about working from home. After the crisis, working from home for two or three days could become the norm, according to the ANWB. The ANWB used the results of the study for a vision on working from home, working in the office and avoiding rush hour. Important starting points are to avoid rush hour as much as possible and depending on the work, ANWB employees work at home or at the office.
