Flemish Minister for Mobility and Public Works Lydia Peeters (Open Vld) presents the new Flemish mobility brand 'Hoppin'. With 'Hoppin', Flanders puts all available mobility solutions in one recognizable jacket, in the coming years we will work on recognizable mobi points in the street scene. Flemish minister Lydia Peeters: “During this legislature, I will make more than 100 million euros available for around 1000 mobi points. Under the mobility brand 'Hoppin' there will also be a website, an app and a mobility center. In this way, 'Hoppin' gives the commuter complete freedom to use various transport options such as bus, (e-) bicycle and sharing systems.

one strong brand

The philosophy behind 'Hoppin' is simple: the brand is recognizable, inviting, catches the eye and combines all available mobility solutions under one name. By tuning strong public transport to the (e-) bicycle, car and subsystems, the Flemish government wants to support all commuters in their journeys.

“Readability, clarity, coherence and uniformity are the key words if we want to create a reflex. In order to show citizens the way in this complexity, we want to make one whole: not separate puzzle pieces that do not fit together, but puzzle pieces that form one story that is rolled out across Flanders., according to Lydia Peeters.

clear story for every commuter

'Hoppin' is the story with which the commuter will experience the shift from basic mobility to basic accessibility in the coming months and years. Basic accessibility is the Flemish mobility vision that starts from a demand-driven mobility offer and in which combi-mobility, the combination of different modes of transport, is central. From autumn 2020, mobi points will appear in the street scene under the name 'hoppin': locations where multiple transport solutions such as public or collective transport, shared cars, taxis, (shared) bicycles and (e) scooters come together. The range of mobi points under the brand name 'Hoppin' will grow strongly in the coming years.

“For this legislature, we foresee 105.400.000 euros for the roll-out of around 1000 mobi points spread across Flanders. The Agency for Roads and Traffic, De Lijn, Lantis and De Werkvennootschap are responsible for the realization along regional roads. Cities and municipalities are responsible for the construction of 'Hoppin' locations along roads under their management. ”. thus Minister Lydia Peeters
