Now that the corona measures are slowly being relaxed again in the Netherlands and many other countries, the economy is starting to recover, step by step. According to trade association BOVAG, there is a revival in the number of registrations of new passenger cars. They report this in a news item on their website. Last month, 34.885 new passenger cars were registered in the Netherlands, which is four percent more than in July 2019. Since the outbreak of the coronavirus, car sales have recorded sharp declines every month, but the first catch-up took place in July, according to the official figures from branch organization BOVAG, RAI Association and RDC. The automotive industry has been confronted with the consequences of the corona measures worldwide for months. Everywhere companies were shut down and employees were at home.

In the Netherlands, this mainly led to a drop in demand from both business and private customers, while car factories and suppliers around the world were shut down. Vehicles already ordered could therefore not be delivered. Fortunately, the corona measures have relaxed a bit and deliveries are starting up again, which translates into the plus of July. 192.868 new passenger cars were registered over the first seven months of the year, which is still 25,6 percent less than a year ago, compared to 259.319 last year. Branch organization BOVAG and RAI Association recently adjusted their forecast for car sales in 2020 from 425.000 to 350.000 units.

The most registered brands in July 2020 were: Volkswagen with 4.075 units and 11,7 percent market share, BMW (2.726 / 7,8 percent), KIA (2.511 / 7,2 percent), Skoda (2.380 / 6,8 percent), Peugeot (2.336 / 6,7 percent).

The most registered models in July 2020 were: Volkswagen Polo with 1.371 units and 3,9 percent market share, KIA Niro (1.126 / 3,2 percent), Opel Corsa (973 / 2,8 percent), Volvo XC40 (941/2,7, 930 percent), Volkswagen Golf (2,7 / XNUMX percent).
