From 1 November 2020, there is an obligation to send the journey data in real time to the Chiron server of the Flemish Government. With this, the government wants to put a stop to the abuses in the taxi sector, as it previously did in the catering industry where the use of the mandatory 'white' cash register was introduced. Chiron is the central journey database for individually paid passenger transport of the Flemish government.

We are still in the middle of the corona crisis, but from November 1, 2020, important new obligations will apply to companies in the taxi sector that have already switched to the new IBP license (individually paid passenger transport). From that date, every taxi ride offered under the license must be individually paid passenger transport, just before departure and after arrival, electronically registered in the Chiron database of the Government.

At the end of the journey, the person being transported, or, where appropriate, the customer if not the person being transported, shall be given a ticket, without requesting it, bearing indelible indications. GTL extension is currently investigating which suppliers offering a solution to these new obligations for the Flemish market.

Please note: Companies that still work under their old Taxi or FVO permit during the transition phase are only covered by this obligation when they switch to the new IBP permit.

catering and registered cash register system

To combat fraud in the sector, certain catering operators must work with a registered cash register. That 'white' register keeps track of all the operations that are entered into the register. It is mandatory for every catering operator who generates more than 25.000 euros in annual turnover from the sale of meals consumed on site.
