From December 13, the Nightjet (night train) will depart every day at the beginning of the evening from Amsterdam, Utrecht and Arnhem to Munich, Innsbruck and Vienna. Interested parties have to wait a while. The train journey takes approximately 14 hours. Travelers traveling on this train arrive the next morning at the destinations Munich, Innsbruck or Vienna.

Do you want to lie comfortably in a bed or rather just a seat? This night train has tickets available for seats, sleeping places and more luxurious beds. A ticket for this night train for a seat is available from 29 euros, a sleeping place is available from 59 euros and a luxury bed is available from 89 euros. You can buy the tickets online and by telephone from the Dutch Railways from Monday 21 September. You can book six months in advance, so people can already book for the winter sports season from next week.

Today this night train crossed the German-Dutch border for the first time for a test ride without passengers through Austria, Germany and the Netherlands. This night train ensures that the Netherlands is reconnected to the European network of night trains for the first time since 2016. The Nightjet consists of ten wagons, six sleeping wagons and four sitting wagons. Half of the train is disconnected en route and goes to Vienna and the other half goes to Munich and Innsbruck.

Vienna, the capital of Austria, is the most important night train hub in Europe. The NS says the night train is making a comeback in Europe as a sustainable alternative to the airplane. The Dutch Railways will drive to Cologne with Dutch drivers and train managers, they will receive special training. From Cologne the train is taken over by ÖOB (Austrian Railways) which continues to Austria.

'During the test drive today, we test whether the combination of the new locomotive and the night train coaches works properly. For example, we test the brakes, closing the doors and switching between the different systems. I'm sure we'll be ready in time for December 13th. It does take some planning, but I happen to be very good at that, 'says Machinist Cor Poppe-Verburg
