Last weekend Tilburg decided to end the entire carnival program and last week the associations of Geldrop and Mierlo canceled all major public events around carnival. Not only the people of Brabant definitely do not see a caravan parade, the vast majority of Limburg also understands that all major carnival events will be banned next season.
Especially in Tilburg, they are afraid that they will be poorly exposed again. So no impressive parades, crowded pubs and polonaise next carnival. It was already expected, but the Federation Eindhoven Carnival (sFEC) has official announced that there are no major events during the upcoming carnival.
The Stichting Federatie Eindhovens Carnaval (SFEC) has recently received her
broken head over how to celebrate Carnival next year in relation to Covid-19. While attempts have previously been made to postpone decisions for as long as possible in the hope that Carnival 2021 would still be a 'normal' carnival, the SFEC is now forced to take a regrettable decision.
In addition to the parade and the federation ball, the prince election is also canceled and no tents are being set up on the Markt, the Wilhelminaplein and the Stadhuisplein. All 'big' events as in other years are not organized. In concrete terms, this means that the parade will not take place on Carnival Saturday. The plans to organize tents with a full program on the Markt, Wilhelminaplein and Stadhuisplein have also been canceled. The Federation Ball is canceled. Also, no new City Prince will be presented this coming Carnival season.
Lichtjesroute attracts record number of visitors
The Lichtjesroute has attracted more than 230.000 visitors this year. More people than ever rode the Lichtjesroute, the first major event in Eindhoven that took place despite corona. Nevertheless, the corona crisis required various adjustments. The largest of these was the scrapping of the 'duck pond' on the 1e Lieven de Keylaan from the route. Traditionally one of the highlights. Monday is started to break everything down again and start preparations for the next Lichtjesroute.
