The Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) checks compliance with the working and rest times of taxi drivers. This contributes to safe taxi transport and fair competition in the taxi sector. In addition to checks with taxi drivers on the street and visits to taxi companies, the ILT is developing a digital form of inspection. New is the introduction of a web form that taxi companies can use to upload data from the taxi on-board computer (BCT). The Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate reports this on their website through this message.

Introduction web form

This week, 100 taxi operators received a request from the ILT to digitally supply the work files and journey administration from the on-board computer. In previous pilots with digital inspection, the taxi operator still had to provide these files via email. The ILT has now developed a web form for this purpose, with which the taxi operator can upload the files. Taxi operators can use a digital inspection to have their company assessed on working and rest times by the ILT in an easily accessible manner. In addition, they can send the BCT files at a time when it is convenient for them.

Compliance with working and rest times

After the ILT has analyzed the data on working and rest times, the taxi operator will receive a letter with findings and an overview of any violations. The ILT expects that the taxi operator, if necessary from the findings, will take action himself to improve compliance with the working and rest times.

Good compliance leads to fewer inspections

This pilot is a new step in the development of digital inspection. This will enable the ILT to check more taxi companies in the future for compliance with working and rest times. The digital inspections contribute to obtaining a better insight into the taxi sector. The ILT can also use the results of the digital inspections to carry out more targeted road inspections or company inspections. Companies with a high risk score inspects the ILT then more intensively than companies with a low risk score.
