Minister van Nieuwenhuizen (Infrastructure and Water Management) has given the green light for the BSO bus (successor of the Stint) on the public road. Cora van Nieuwenhuizen recently announced this in a letter to the Lower House and in the Government Gazette. At the beginning of October, the minister indicated that the out-of-school care bus met all the conditions and would be allowed on the road quickly. The previous Stint was taken off the road in 2018, after a serious accident with a train in Oss. 4 children were killed.

The vehicle of the brand Sint, type Stint bus is designated as a special moped. The indication means that special mopeds of the brand Stint, type Stint Bus, may be used in traffic in accordance with the rules that apply to these vehicles and their drivers.

Users must be actively informed in Dutch about the use of the vehicle of the Stint Bus type on the road, including how the vehicle should be operated and which rules from the 1990 Traffic Regulations and Traffic Signs Regulations apply. To this end, a driving skills training to be followed by the user is offered.

De Out-of-school care bus has a maximum construction speed of 17 km per hour and has 10 seats. The BSO bus is mainly used in childcare. The users of the vehicle of the Stint Bus type are explicitly informed of the risk of overloading, by indications on the vehicles and via the manual and the driving skills training.
