The Dutch and other foreigners have to show a negative result of a corona test from 25 December if they want to come to Belgium. The corona test must not be older than two days. According to Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, there will be checks at the border. Anyone who lives on the border and occasionally has to cross the border but does not stay overnight should not. If you want to stay in Belgium for more than two days, the test is necessary.

The country wants to prevent more travel movements between Belgium and surrounding countries, because the situation in most countries is worse than in Belgium. Belgians want to prevent infections from abroad through road and airport controls. In Europe, countries such as Ireland and Norway also apply this strategy.

The Consultation Committee did not make any concessions on Friday, but also did not announce any major tightening. Belgians who work abroad will not have to comply with the mandatory seven-day quarantine. Minister of Justice Vincent Van Quickenborne (Open Vld) clarified this on Friday after the Consultation Committee.

Prime Minister Alexander De Croo explicitly calls on Belgians not to travel in order to limit the chance of further spread of the corona virus. Upon return after a trip, a mandatory quarantine of 7 days applies, followed by a negative test result. This quarantine is not mandatory if the passenger's Passenger Location Form (PLF) shows that the risk of contamination is low because of his or her behavior.
