The Mobility Center 'Adapted Transport' (MAV) is a central contact point where persons with reduced mobility can go for specific mobility and transport questions in the field of accessible and adapted transport. Flemish Minister of Mobility Lydia Peeters supports this specific mobility center with 1,33 million euros. The roll-out of the basic accessibility is planned for the end of 2021. Part of this is the establishment of a Mobility Center that will operate Tailor-made Transport. The award procedure for this Mobility Center is currently underway.

Specifically for people with reduced mobility, provincial 'Mobility Centers Adapted Transport'(MIFs) and these are, as it were, the predecessors of this Mobility Center. The MIFs coordinate the mobility questions and work on tailor-made solutions for people with a mobility impairment. People with a mobility disability can contact these MIFs with their transport questions to find the most suitable transport solutions: adapted lift buses, volunteer activities or combinations with public transport. In addition, in many cases users can claim a financial contribution for their transport.

People with a mobility limitation sometimes cannot find their way around the transport offer and the Mobility Center 'Adapted Transport' can help them with this. They can go to an MAV with their questions and the most suitable transport for the applicant is sought. People with a mobility impairment can count on support through the 'Mobility Centers Adapted Transport' to move from point A to point B. It is, as it were, a point of contact where they can go with all their mobility and transport requests. In total, we are allocating 1,3 million euros for these MIFs. At the end of 2021, these MIFs will continue under the title 'Tailor-made Transport' within the umbrella Mobility Center

There has been a strong increase in the number of transport requests from MIFs. The number of applications handled by MAV Antwerp in the first four months of 2019 increased by 66% compared to the same period in 2018. At MAV Vlaams-Brabant, the number of journeys performed also increased by 38% from 2018 to 2019. The 'Mobility Center (s) Adjusted Transport 'receive annual project subsidies for the performance of this task. The Flemish government approved the subsidy files for the MAVs in the provinces of Antwerp and Flemish Brabant on 18 December 2020. The subsidies for the provinces of Limburg, East Flanders and West Flanders had previously been approved by Minister Peeters through Ministerial Decree.
