The cause of the problems with Keolis electric buses is being sought. The new electric buses are struggling with the necessary start-up problems. Keolis started using the electric buses in mid-December, when the new Rrreis timetable also started. In total, it concerns more than 250 vans Chinese-made, which operate in parts of Overijssel and Gelderland. Buses regularly stop and the heating does not work, perhaps to save the batteries.

The patterns that then follow in the event of problems during the start of a new concession were neatly followed. The Independent Conservative Liberals group has now asked written questions about the problems with the buses. For example, they want to know whether there might have been fewer problems if the buses from VDL, a Dutch bus manufacturer, had been chosen. The software supplier was also under fire because without prior investigation, according to the spokesman, the problems are due to the software.

Almost 900 drivers had to be trained to start with the largest electric fleet in Europe. There has been a lot of hassle, because Keolis committed fraud during the tendering procedure. In 2022, another company must take over transport in the IJssel-Vecht region. The new Chinese buses may well continue to run.
