The Utrechtse Taxi Centrale (UTC) is concerned about private individuals who can no longer get transport due to a curfew, such as to the hospital or a GP station. UTC chairman Mourad El Baqqali informs via the ANP that the taxi company also cooperates with pharmacies at night to deliver medication to mostly elderly people. In the same report, Hedy Borreman, director of Taxi Centrale Amsterdam (TCA), know that they have already received many calls from hospitals who are afraid that they will no longer be able to transport their patients. There is already little work in the sector and the little work that is left mostly relates to pre-ordered transport such as necessary NS rides or care rides.

The trade association Royal Dutch Transport (KNV) supports the call. Journeys arranged under the Social Support Act, such as to and from a shopping center, usually take place during the day. A different sound comes from many drivers who are concerned about the pitches. When the curfew starts and taxis are driving, they expect crowded spaces.

Today a debate is being held in the Lower House about the introduction of the curfew. The cabinet wants the support of the House of Representatives in the introduction of this severe measure. Diederik Gommers, chairman of the Dutch Intensive Care Association, was previously not in favor of a curfew. Not at all necessary for the care at present and too rigorous a measure. Earlier, Ernst Kuipers, colleague at Erasmus MC and chairman of the National Network Acute Care, had spoken out in favor of the curfew.

The discussion focuses on the curfew, which the cabinet has proposed from 20.30 pm to 4.30 am. The cabinet mainly refers to the dangers of the British variant of the virus. Yesterday, the OMT issued an advisory report stating that curfew can reduce infections by 8 to 13 percent. When the curfew comes, the measures will take effect next Saturday.
