To meet increasing customer demand and also to add capacity and flexibility to the delivery network, Amazon will open its own delivery station in the Netherlands and work with small and medium-sized independent local courier companies in addition to existing transport partners.

Packages are sent from Amazon's existing European warehouses and sorting centers, in France and Germany, for example, to the delivery station and loaded into delivery vans for delivery to customers in Amsterdam and the surrounding area.

This summer, Amazon will create around 200 direct jobs at the 8500 m² delivery station. In addition, some 450 deliverers who work for independent courier companies will collect parcels from the delivery station for same-day delivery to Amazon customers.

“From the moment Amazon serves Dutch customers, the company has built an excellent relationship with the Dutch carriers and will continue to work closely with them in the future. To meet the increasing demand from customers and to add extra capacity and flexibility to the delivery network, Amazon is now also setting up its own delivery station in Rozenburg-Schiphol ”, said Robert Viegers, Vice President Amazon Logistics Germany, Austria and the Netherlands. .

Amazon continues to invest in its transportation infrastructure and other innovative ways to expand the capacity of its supply chain so that customers can benefit from even faster and more environmentally friendly delivery. The company is also innovating its last mile delivery solutions to improve the experience of customers, employees and the environment.

Customers benefit from safe location delivery, Map Tracking so they can see how many stops the courier makes before their order is delivered and Photo on Delivery showing that their package has been delivered safely and where it has been delivered. Technological developments such as intelligent route planning and electric delivery vans support both the couriers who deliver parcels to customers as efficiently as possible, and the employees in the delivery station, while simultaneously reducing CO2 emissions.
