After approval by the various governments, NMBS, De Lijn, TEC and STIB are launching a new product range that offers access to all means of public transport in an extensive zone around Brussels. Until now, the perimeter was limited to the Brussels-Capital Region. From 1 February 2021, thanks to the new BRUPASS XL tickets and season tickets, travelers will be able to use the train, tram, bus and / or metro with a single ticket and with a common rate in an expanded 11,5 km perimeter around 19 Brussels. municipalities. The BRUPASS replaces MTB and JUMP tickets within the Brussels-Capital Region.

There will also be one ticket for public transport in and around Brussels and De Lijn and the railway company NMBS will increase a number of rates on 1 February. A Brupass XL ticket will then cost 3 euros for one ride and 20 euros for a ten-ride ticket. The tickets are then valid at the various public transport companies (NMBS, De Lijn, STIB and TEC) in Brussels and a zone of 11,5 kilometers around the Capital Region. Harmonization of tariffs will not only simplify the use of public transport, but also expand the offer and reduce the costs of intermodality for the user. Only for journeys to and from Brussels Airport there is a special rate and you need a specific ticket, a 'Go2City'.

Because travelers will now be able to hop more easily with one unique ticket from one transport company to another in a spacious zone, public transport in the Brussels-Capital Region is fully in line with the Flemish strategy of moving towards a combi-mobile approach. Another barrier for the traveler and another step closer to the necessary modal shift towards more sustainable journeys, certainly in the Vlaamse Rand.

Until February 1, 2021, the Brupass zone was called the MTB zone. More information can be found on the netplan, where the boundaries of the Brupass zone are indicated for De Lijn and TEC. The Brupass stops of the NMBS are indicated with a blue icon. You can travel to all TEC stops within the Brussels-Capital Region with a Brupass ticket. All STIB stops are also part of the Brupass zone. All De Lijn stops within the Brussels-Capital Region, and certain stops outside it, are available. All these stops are on it netplan, within the boundaries of the Brupass zone.

From 1 February it will be even easier to get to the center by public transport from the outskirts of Brussels. The BRUPASS XL is valid on all vehicles of De Lijn, TEC, STIB and NMBS, within a perimeter of 11,5 km around Brussels. No more hassle with different tickets, just get to Brussels quickly and safely, thanks to this great collaboration between the various authorities.

increased lifespan

After ratification by the Flemish Government, De Lijn will apply from 1 February 2021 new rates to. As in other sectors, tickets follow the increase in the lifespan. The Buzzy Pazzen, electronic tickets and cards and tickets for contactless payment are not getting any more expensive.

De Lijn's network subscriptions remain the cheapest in Belgium and the surrounding area. The rates for an Omnipas for one year and 3 months are indexed and from 1 February 2021 will cost 339 euros and 132 euros respectively. The price of a Buzzy Pazz (12 to 24 year olds) full price remains unchanged.

People over 65 pay 56 euros for an annual subscription. This will also be the price for a VT (increased reimbursement) annual subscription, a Buzzy Pazz for those under 12 and a third Buzzy Pazz year in the same family. A VG (transport guarantee) subscription will cost 46 euros from 1 February 2021.

De Lijn has more than a hundred bus lines in the Vlaamse Rand and Brussels. Among them some of the busiest in all of Flanders. The new, smoother and more convenient transfer options on the networks of the four transport companies are the strengths of the Brupass and Brupass XL. Both tickets are an important asset in convincing people in this congested region to exchange the car for public transport. Together with the realization of the Brabantnet, De Lijn will thus be able to contribute even better to an ambitious modal shift in the Vlaamse Rand and Brussels.
