The beautiful weather was just around the corner last weekend, where a week earlier many people were on skates and were enjoying the snow, now many people were walking, cycling or touring around with the convertible or with the motorcycle. With temperatures around 19 degrees, everything was taken off last weekend. Everywhere you saw walkers, cyclists and especially motorcyclists enjoying the beautiful weather. RAI Association reports that the motorcycle is on the rise in the Netherlands.

Sales of new and used motorcycles broke a record last year. The use of motorcycles also broke a record last year. This is evident from a study commissioned by the RAI Association by Direct Research. From this research shows, among other things, that more than half of motorcycle owners even continue to drive in the winter. And 29 percent indicate that they drive a lot more in winter because the climate in the Netherlands is mild and the temperatures in winter are mild. The improved materials such as advanced motorcycle suits also ensure that driving continues in the winter. With spring approaching, motorcyclists can indulge themselves and enjoy even more wonderful temperatures in the open air.

The results of the study confirm, according to Van Eijck, that the powered two-wheeler is gaining in importance as a serious and fully-fledged daily transport alternative. “On the one hand, motorcycling is a symbol of experience, fun and freedom. At the same time, the motor now forms an indispensable and practical link in the mobility chain, takes up little space, is flexible, leads to fewer traffic jams and ensures better accessibility. With 1,5 million holders of the A driving license, the potential is enormous. In addition, modern motorcycles are efficient, clean and economical and, last but not least, thanks to numerous active and passive driving task-supporting ADAS systems (active cruise control, ABS, traction control, braking force dosing, etc.), increasingly safer. But, Van Eijck emphasizes, if you have not driven in the winter and you pick up the bike this weekend, always pay attention to the condition of the maintenance. Check your tire pressure and quickly plan that summer check in the workshop if you have not already done so ”.
