The ANWB is starting a pilot this week with the use of the e-bike as a replacement vehicle in the event of a breakdown. The pilot is intended to offer members in urban areas a sustainable alternative to the car. The pilot is being carried out in Utrecht, Amsterdam and Wolfheze.

In metropolitan areas, a replacement car is not always convenient due to the parking policy and the required parking permit. It can also be difficult to find a place nearby or to reach your destination due to heavy traffic. The e-bike can then offer a solution. In addition to use in urban areas, the ANWB also wants to test the e-bike in rural areas. A beautiful and extensive cycling area such as the surroundings of Wolfheze is very suitable for this.

The ANWB Wegenwacht has been offering its members the best roadside assistance for 75 years and is constantly looking for ways to further improve the service. Sustainability is an important spearhead in this. With the use of the e-bike, members can opt for a sustainable alternative means of transport and immediately become acquainted with the many advantages. If they prefer a replacement car, for example to take the children to school, this is of course still possible.

Replacement transport is offered by the ANWB Wegenwacht when this service is included in the package that the members have taken out. The pilot is successful if there is sufficient demand for the e-bike, according to ANWB website.
