How nice would it be that you board a bus or train and can pay with your bank card or credit card instead of just with an OV chip card? Arriva reports that a trial has recently started in Lelystad in Arriva's city buses, where this is possible. As a traveler, you can check in and out with your debit card (on your mobile) or credit card instead of your OV chip card. You get in and check in with your debit card or with your credit card, you can also use your debit card on your mobile. When you then get out again, you check out with the same debit or credit card that you used to check in. After automatic payment with your bank card or credit card, you will see the statement with NLOV on your payment overview the next day. You can of course still check in with your OV chip card.

The prices of trips are equal to the full rate for traveling with your OV-chipkaart. You cannot travel with a discount or subscription during this trial, that will come later. Anyone who wants to participate in this trial can simply travel this way, you do not need to register in advance. The aim of this trial is to increase the number of payment options for travelers in public transport in the coming years and that in the future you can check in and out with your debit card, your mobile, your credit card, your OV chip card, your ticket and with train gps. Paying in this new way will be between now and 2023 OVpay called. It is not yet known when the trial will end.
