Tesla announced to staff that it will stop assembling the Model S and X in Tilburg. Due to technical evolution, it is proving difficult to build the cars in Tilburg in Brabant from now on. The Tesla factory in North Brabant has only existed for eight years. By stopping production, 96 people will be on the street. They were offered to work in Berlin or they are looking for another place within the company. Production in the German capital may start as early as the summer. Tilburg will be discontinued in the short term.

The news hit the unions like a bomb. Few years of service have been built up in the relatively young company, which means that the severance payment is minimal. Tilburg is no longer attractive to Tesla for various reasons. The peak in car construction in 2018 may not return and was mainly due to favorable addition rules that were very popular among business drivers. In addition, the technology has also been re-examined, while the interior is completely different. As a result, assembling the cars can no longer technically take place on an industrial scale at this location. More than 1500 people work for it Tesla in the Netherlands.
