Yes, there is life after Corona, and yes, we can go on a journey again! Between the end of September and the end of May, it is dark in Northern Norway from early afternoon to late morning and the Northern Lights often float through the sky. Two conditions must be met. On the one hand, solar storms must take place in the universe. On the other hand, the sky must be clear, cloud cover obstructs the view. Northern lights occur most often in the aurora zone, an oval ring around the magnetic North Pole between 60 ° and 70 ° North. Northern Norway and Lapland are ideal places where the chances of seeing the natural spectacle are greatest. Sometimes it only takes a few minutes, sometimes you enjoy an hour-long light show.

You should also visit the small, cozy fishing villages, such as Henningsvær (pictured here) on the LofotenVesterålen en Senja. The Lofoten archipelago lies in the middle of the wild Norwegian Sea, well above the Arctic Circle. Thanks to their location on the continental shelf, Vesterålen are the only destination in Norway where you can see whales all year long.

Lapland vacations

Far away from the daily hustle and bustle you will find peace, space, reindeer and a great feeling of freedom in Lapland. This area with dense forests, rough highlands and a mountainous coastline is still very pure and unspoilt. Lapland is not a country, but a vast region in Northern Scandinavia that stretches from Tromsø in Norway to Murmansk in Western Russia. Snowy Lapland is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Romantic forests covered with a layer of snow, here and there a wooden cottage with sauna and jacuzzi and frozen lakes where locals like to go ice fishing. Lapland exudes romance. In the land of Santa Claus, a visit to him should not be missed. Santa Claus lives in the village of Korvatunturi, which is located in the Urho Kekkonen National Park. aurora borealis

The Northern Lights appear in the sky when atoms and molecules in the upper layers of the atmosphere come into contact with high-energy electrons. The Northern Lights appear where beams of high-energy electrons penetrate the upper atmosphere. As those beams move, so do the Northern Lights. The Northern Lights are most often seen along the belt connecting Central Alaska, Canada, southern Greenland, Iceland, and northern Scandinavia connects with each other. Statistically, spring (March-April) and autumn (September-October) have the highest Northern Lights activity. Yet you can also observe it in October, November, December, January and February. The best time to see the Northern Lights is between 18:00 PM and 01:00 AM.
