There can be various reasons for taking a street taxi. Research shows that for 47% of the respondents, the time of the journey was the important factor in taking the street taxi. Due to the lack of connecting public transport due to the late travel time or because in many cases there was no public transport available at all, this is still the main reason why street taxi was used. Ease of use was only taken into account by 26% of the Utrecht respondents when choosing to call a taxi. At stations and at the airport, the ability to take luggage and the speed of availability by taxi was the main reason for avoiding public transport. The accessibility of the destination was only a reason to take a taxi in 12% of the cases.

Also the drivers are not unimportant to those surveyed. More than 58% indicate that the driving skills of the driver and the knowledge in finding the destination are the most important arguments in assessing the services of the driver. The price of the trip assignment is not in the first place important, because 47% of the respondents indicate that customer-friendliness and professional appearance play a role in giving a good score. You might expect the condition of the car to be an important point in assessing the driving assignment, but surprisingly, good language skills are much more important. Respondents indicate that this last point often leaves a lot to be desired, which sometimes creates an unsafe feeling among the traveler. For 26% of the respondents, the location of the taxi rank is also a thing that could be given more attention.
