EINDHOVEN (ANP) - King's Day is only celebrated this year with the royal family. King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and their three daughters will come to the High Tech Campus on April 27 Eindhoven. The rest of the family has not been invited due to the corona crisis. The municipality has that Eindhoven announced on Tuesday.

The royal family is received on the High Tech Campus in a studio where a large part of the program is completed. The number of activities is deliberately kept limited to avoid any risks. The program is largely completed digitally. This way there can still be contact with the inhabitants of Eindhoven.

There will also be a caravan with different typical Eindhovense vehicles that show the past, present and future of the city. In addition, there are discussions with designers and we look back on how Eindhoven in the last hundred years has become the city it is today.

The municipality recently had to completely change the program for King's Day. Due to the increasing number of corona infections, the plans were no longer realistic. “We have always said that we are bowing with corona. We are not blind or deaf to the epidemiological situation. We do what is appropriate, ”said Mayor John Jorritsma during a press conference. According to the mayor, all regulations have been thought of. For example, everyone is tested in advance, mouth masks must be worn and there are as few movements as possible.

According to Jorritsma, the program was revised last Friday, but according to the mayor “not out of panic”. “That has everything to do with the increasing numbers. We have not yet reached the peak. ” Jorritsma does not consider the chance that the programming will be scaled up again.
