THE HAGUE (ANP) - The Dutch gradually show themselves outside after 21.00 p.m. in the evening, both during the week and at the weekend. This is reported by the Dutch Relocation Panel (NVP), which follows 10.000 panel members aged 16 and older with an app.

On Wednesday evening, the curfew will be moved from 21.00 PM to 22.00 PM. It can therefore be expected that more people will be out on the street during this extra hour. But recently people have been outside a bit more around that time anyway.

At the end of January, when the curfew had just started, less than 3 percent of the people could be found on the street between 21.00 p.m. and 04.30:3,6 a.m. on weekdays. Last week, in the ninth week of curfew, this percentage had risen to 2,6. In the first week after curfew, 3,4 percent of people were on the road on Friday and Saturday, compared to XNUMX percent last week.

"The trend has been fairly stable in recent weeks," says researcher Tineke School of the NVP. '' Although this one goes up rather than down.

Summertime

When curfew was introduced, the percentage of people out after 21.00 p.m. was more than halved, both during the week and on weekends.

Last Sunday was the first day of DST, while the curfew was set at 21.00:22.00 PM. This will start from Wednesday at 3,5 p.m., partly because, according to outgoing minister Ferd Grapperhaus (Justice and Security), `` many more issues with compliance '' would arise with the early curfew. This Sunday, nearly 2,7 percent of the panelists were out after nine. In the five weeks before that, this was an average of XNUMX percent. Still, it is still too premature to draw conclusions about the start of summer time, according to School.

Most people who are on the street after curfews are in the car or on foot. This applies to the first week of curfew as well as last week, on weekends and during the week. Far fewer people are still traveling by car than before the curfew, according to the National Road Traffic Data Portal. Between 21.00 p.m. and 22.00 p.m. an average of 127 cars passed a busy traffic point in the week before curfew on working days. Last week there were only 77. This looked at 200 locations across the country, mainly highways.
