We have been dealing with the consequences of the corona crisis for more than a year now and we are far from resolving it. Many industries have been hit hard by the corona crisis. The aviation industry has also been hit hard by the consequences of the corona crisis. Vacations and pleasure trips have almost disappeared in the past 14 months. Many airports still have a lot of fleet on the ground because there are almost no travelers.

Private jets, on the other hand, regularly fly back and forth at the various airports in our country. I wonder what the situation is with private flights and private planes, whether this has actually increased or decreased due to the consequences of the corona crisis? We have First Class Aviation en Dutch Aviation Partner asked how they experience the corona crisis as a company. These two companies specialize in, among other things, the rental of private jets and private flights.

“From the moment the corona virus started to advance, we have seen an increasing demand for private flights. A private jet is a luxury but also a safer way to travel. However, we also see that negative travel advice makes travel very limited in total. You can say that with DutchAviationPartner.nl we have more visitors and interested parties during the corona crisis, but the actual bookings have remained about the same. Business flights are particularly popular, as this is allowed in most countries ”.

country restrictions

According to First Class Aviation, it is indeed true that there is still a lot of flying with private jets. In principle, they can still fly to almost anywhere, but all restrictions apply to passengers that may apply per country. Yet they unfortunately notice that it is less busy than usual. The company is said to have many winter sports flights at the moment, but most of them are canceled. There are also a lot fewer flights to countries that are subject to a quarantine requirement or curfew. Fortunately, there are also a lot of business things that just continue.

“Customers who want to view or buy real estate abroad. A company that makes a takeover abroad. There are also customers who, for example, have a second home in Spain and want to go there or customers who want to go to a holiday destination where there are fewer or no restrictions. There are now also more customers who would normally fly with a scheduled service but now choose to fly privately because of COVID. Last year, after the first lockdown, we had a period with a lot of private flights because traveling was allowed again. It is therefore expected that once the rules for travel become less strict, there will be another peak and there will be more growth in the number of flights with private jets. This is because, at the moment and also in the future, people prefer to sit comfortably with their own company in a private jet than with 180 passengers together in a Boeing 737, in connection with the greater risk of contamination.
