The Breda city council will meet on Monday evening for an extra meeting in which mayor Paul Depla has to give a text and explanation about the admission of the 538 Orange Day test event on the Chasséveld in the center of the city. In recent days there has been a fuss about the big party attended by 10.000 people.

Depla said on Sunday evening at Nieuwsuur before he decides whether a license will be granted “he wants to carefully weigh all the advice”. "We are going to weigh it carefully and of course we also look at the social unrest." He wants to wait for Monday night's city council meeting before making a choice about whether or not to grant a permit for the event.

The cabinet says it wants to continue with the Fieldlab events, despite the criticism of 538 Orange Day.

All political parties in the city feel overwhelmed by the decision, the local catering industry was furious that they were not involved and a petition against the party from the nearby Amphia Hospital is being signed en masse. This is the initiative of surgeon Rogier Crolla and his staff, who, on behalf of “concerned healthcare providers, patients on the increasingly longer waiting lists, their loved ones and others”, state that “this ill-considered pseudo-experiment” should be called off.

Various political parties are concerned about how the 10.000 visitors will come to the Fieldlab event on April 24 and about the possible attraction effect on adjacent sites. They want to know what measures are being taken and how much costs will be involved in the pilot for the municipality.

Earlier on Sunday he said he would still stand behind the test event: “If I say 'no' and a day later, Ajax-AZ will take place in an Amsterdam stadium with 7500 people, also close to a hospital. Why can that continue and then an event like this not? Just because a petition is being signed? ”, It said in the afternoon.
