The NK Safest Chauffeur 2021 officially starts today. Truck drivers can register for the competition from today and get started online right away. The final of the NK Safest Chauffeur takes place on Saturday, September 25 at the TT Circuit of Assen. Last year, the NK Safest Chauffeur was canceled due to the corona pandemic. The NK will start this year. It goes without saying that the final in Assen will be organized completely 'corona-proof'.
Truck drivers compete against each other during the NK Safest Chauffeur. The NK starts with an online phase with knowledge questions and reaction tests. The best 25 drivers qualify for the final day. At the TT Circuit in Assen, the finalists compete for the title by, among other things, taking a few challenging practical tests.
Last year, 610 people were killed in traffic in the Netherlands, according to Statistics Netherlands. 2020 people were killed on European roads in 18.800. Research shows that human behavior plays a major role in more than 90 percent of the number of accidents; that number must and can be reduced. TVM insurance has been committed to transport safety for decades. One of the ways to make a substantial contribution to road safety is to create more awareness for the subject, for example by organizing the NK Safest Chauffeur as part of the TVM Awards.
What are the TVM Awards?
The TVM Awards is the name of a social initiative to improve transport and road safety of TVM insurance and a select group of involved partners. The partners are: Volvo Trucks Netherlands, Van Eijck Group, Continental Benelux, VVN (Safe Traffic Netherlands), STL (Sector Institute Transport and Logistics), BP, ANWB and Advance Groep. The primary objective of the TVM Awards is to create more awareness - among all road users - for safe driving behavior. In addition, TVM and the partners want to make a positive contribution to the profession of professional driver.
Hélène Hendrik's ambassador
TV personality Hélène Hendriks has been an ambassador from the start TVM Awards connected. She will also present the final day and hand out the prizes on September 25. In addition to the sporting honor, the winner of the NK Safest Chauffeur naturally wins the TVM Award. The entire top 25 will also win a visit to the Volvo factory, the Volvo Trucks demo center and the Volvo Museum in Gothenburg, Sweden. Numbers 26 to 75 are invited for an exclusive visit to the largest Volvo Trucks factory in Ghent.
