You may be seen again on a terrace. In anticipation of the opening of a gastronomic restaurant, we can finally enjoy our 'pilske' again on a terrace after a long time. Even though the weather was bad, we don't complain. If you have not managed to score a patio table on the seawall, do not worry because there are terraces in abundance. We let ourselves be surprised in the vicinity of the old Ghent docks, because you are spoiled for choice. Bar Bricolage is the green oasis in the Ghent urban wilderness. In the idyllic garden you can spot a delicious mishmash of cheerful buildings made from recycled material, made by the makers of the workshops of The Chinastraat.

Consumption is compulsory in a seated position, you do not move the tables and chairs and you wear your mouth mask with every movement on the site. Always keep a meter and a half away from the staff and other visitors and order via the QR code at the table, and not at the bar. There are some new rules, so some getting used to. You can also spend the Sunday afternoon in the Italian-inspired beach chairs Kiosko Spending time. Even after the lockdown, the cheeses and meat products still come directly from Italy from artisan producers. For those who prefer a beer, there is a quirky selection of what Belgium has to offer. And that's a lot!

Glass factory opens its doors

Another tip is the Glass Factory. It is within cycling and walking distance of the Ghent city center. Via the Bataviabrug you can reach Glasfabriek on foot or by bicycle. There are bicycle sheds in the Koopvaardijlaan and on the quay. Glasfabriek has no parking, but don't worry. Those arriving by car can park at Dampoort station or in the surrounding streets. Even better! Take bus 6, stop 'Koopvaardijlaan' or bus 5, stop 'Dok Noord' in Doornzelestraat. Then walk via the Bataviabrug to Glasfabriek.

The long-awaited opening weekend of the Glass Factory. Only a start, because the organization behind Glasfabriek is committed to the upcoming summer season with extra activities such as open air cinema, concerts and deejays, in addition to running their bar and street food restaurant in the open air.
