The number of newly registered cars increased by 55,6 percent last April compared to April 2020. A total of 23.846 new passenger cars were registered compared to 15.322 a year earlier. This is evident from the official registration figures of the RAI Association, BOVAG and RDC.

With a plus of 55 percent, the number of car registrations is on the rise for the first time this year. The figures can be explained because in April 2020 both the automotive industry and the showrooms in the Netherlands and Europe were closed and the new registrations collapsed. Compared to April 2019, when 32.701 new cars were registered, the number of registrations is still 27,1 percent behind.

In total, 104.497 new cars were registered this year, 11,7 percent less than in the first four months of 2020 (118.375). For this year, BOVAG and RAI Vereniging expect a total number of registrations of 400.000 units. Last year, a total of 356.051 new cars were registered BOVAG.
