Silvan Leenaerts can call himself the first APK 3 inspector in the Netherlands. The 43-year-old entrepreneur from Zundert successfully passed the exam and, in addition to his diploma, recently received a certificate and gifts, awarded by IBKI and the RDW. APK 3 is the periodic inspection of agricultural and forestry tractors on wheels that go faster than 40 km / h. This started on May 1, 2021. Just as with APK 1 (trucks and trailers) and APK 2 (passenger cars and light commercial vehicles), the RDW ensures that the inspections are carried out in accordance with the rules. Silvan is the owner and director of De Bruijne Mechanizationbedrijf. A company with ten employees who are busy with the sale, maintenance and repair of tractors, other agricultural vehicles and forklifts and will soon have APK 3 inspections.

Guidelines

Silvan's diploma, certificate and accompanying flowers were handed over (with due observance of the guidelines of the RIVM) by Willem Rijnberg, supervisor of the RDW and Anton van der Heijden, relationship manager of the RDW. André Vreman was also present at the small-scale meeting on behalf of IBKI. This is the organization that supervises and administers the exams for APK 3 inspector. IBKI is also responsible for the exams for inspector APK 1 and APK 2.

“I am delighted that both the industry and we as a regulator are ready to subject these vehicles to a periodic inspection as well. Just like APK 1 and APK 2, APK 3 will make traffic a little safer again. Precisely because it is now really starting, it is important to work together and help each other where possible to make APK 3, just like APK 1 and 2, a well-oiled machine.
