Last month, our government relaxed the travel advice, people can go and stand wherever they want in public transport, among other things. As a result, the number of travelers taking the train is rising again, the NS reports. More than 40 percent of the number of travelers from before the corona crisis is back. From that moment on, the Dutch Railways will see the number of subscriptions increase again and that travelers with NS Flex will reactivate their subscription. Everyone is welcome again in public transport and NS made that clear last month with a nice distribution campaign at various stations in the Netherlands. Bags of seeds were handed out for an even more colorful summer. However, the advice to avoid crowds and to keep distance from each other still applies and a mouth cap is still mandatory.

"After the steady increase in travelers, the cautious growth for season ticket holders also shows that train travel is really on the rise again. Our timetable is completely ready for that, because today it is almost back to the level before corona. An important moment for NS after a difficult period in which we had to ask a lot from our travelers and colleagues."

More than 2,5 percent of the more than 92 million subscription holders have chosen to keep their subscription during the corona crisis. The NS Flex subscription that has been available since the end of 2019 was the deciding factor in this regard. NS Flex can be adjusted or canceled on a monthly basis and travelers are not tied to anything. This was of course very important for many travelers in times of the corona crisis, because many people worked from home and only necessary trips could be made. Many season ticket holders have converted their season ticket to NS Flex during the corona crisis, the number of NS Flex season tickets has doubled since the start of the corona crisis. The timetable of NS is back to the old level and from 5 July all night trains will also run again. All train enthusiasts can indulge themselves and travel carefree by train again.
