Parcel service DPD is investing heavily in CO2 and particulate matter reduction in order to deliver emission-free in the 2025 largest cities in the Netherlands by 30. This year, DPD is already putting 100 electric buses into use. The first electric buses have recently started operating in Eindhoven and the surrounding area, enabling 44 routes to be traveled sustainably from now on. This will save a total of 301.317 kg of CO2 emissions per year. In addition to these electric buses, DPD has been using bicycle couriers in Eindhoven for several years now. Last January, DPD launched the first electric buses in Amsterdam and Haarlem. This year, the cities of Breda, Groningen and Maastricht will follow.

Since 2012, DPD has delivered all its parcels CO2 neutral without extra costs. The deployment of these electric buses is the next step in which DPD will deliver emission-free, with the aim of covering more than 2025 routes sustainably by 400. The climate agreement requires that the 2025 largest inner cities be supplied with emission-free and particulate matter-free supplies by 30. However, DPD takes this a step further and will not only deliver sustainably in the city center but in the entire 30 cities. In order to realize the step towards emission-free delivery, DPD has concluded an agreement with Volkswagen (E-Crafter), Mercedes (E-Sprinter), Renault (E-Master) and Maxus (EV80).

Zero emission cities by 30

The 30 cities where DPD will deliver emission-free by 2025: Almere, Alphen aan den Rijn, Amersfoort, Amsterdam, Apeldoorn, Arnhem, Breda, Delft, Dordrecht, The Hague, Ede, Eindhoven, Emmen, Enschede, Groningen, Haarlem, Hoofddorp, Leeuwarden , Leiden, Maastricht, Naaldwijk, Nijmegen, Rotterdam, 's-Hertogenbosch, Tilburg, Utrecht, Venlo, Zaandam, Zoetermeer and Zwolle, according to DPD.

“Under the motto "we all share the same address", we are very passionate about making our contribution to a better world. We are therefore going to make our vehicle fleet even more sustainable and expand it with electric buses. For example, in January we started to deliver emission-free in Amsterdam and Haarlem and now we can add Eindhoven to the list. The fleet already consisted of Tripls (e-scooter) and bicycles, which we use in Rotterdam and Eindhoven. We were already CO2 neutral, now we are going to make our process structurally sustainable, not only in the Netherlands, but throughout Europe. DPDgroup will further reduce CO2 emissions by delivering 2025 electric vehicles to 225 European cities by 7.700. In addition, DPD International is deploying 3600 charging points and 80 new city depots. DPDgroup has set itself the goal of reducing CO2025 emissions per package by another 2% by 30. DPDgroup is investing 2025 million euros until 200 to contribute to a better quality of life in 225 cities in Europe."
