We've seen it in the news several times, young people partying in Portugal and Spain. Young people who had passed their school exams traveled en masse from different countries to the Mediterranean to party there. With all the consequences that entails, according to the AD, no fewer than 205 young people infected with the coronavirus returned to the Netherlands from these countries in one week. Starting tomorrow, the travel advice for the Algarve region in Portugal will change from code yellow to code orange. That means: only travel to this region if necessary. Travelers who are now in the Algarve must show a corona certificate when returning to the Netherlands from 8 July and do not have to be quarantined at home.

A corona certificate means that travelers must be able to show that they have been vaccinated, that they can show a proof of recovery of corona or they must be able to show a negative test certificate. The national government let us know that there will be no travel advice in Europe from code orange to code yellow this week. The national government also announces that the RIVM has observed increasing infections in, among others, the Spanish regions of Catalonia, Andalusia and Valencia. RIVM closely monitors the situation in the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands in Spain, which now have a yellow travel advice. This also applies to Cyprus and the yellow part of Portugal. This travel advice can also change to code orange again.
