Anyone who wants to travel with the TGV or Flixbus is bound by strict rules from 9 August. While opposition to proof of vaccination continues in France, the country is tightening a number of corona measures on Monday. From August 9, you can no longer visit a restaurant or terrace without proving that you have been vaccinated or not infected with Covid-19. French people march through the streets of about 150 cities in protest, but President Macron wants to contain the flaring corona crisis. The measures are not only in force for the French, but also for tourists traveling to or through France.

health pass

Anyone who wants to drink their Pastis on a terrace in France must submit a vaccination certificate or a negative test from Monday 9 August 2021. You can't get in without a pass. They risk a temporary closure and, after three warnings, even a prison sentence and a fine of 9.000 euros. You also risk a fine of 135 euros if the police catch you without a vaccination certificate or negative test.

Not only the catering industry is becoming stricter to visit. A museum, cinema and day trip to the amusement park is no longer possible without a health card. No more festival or access to venues where more than 50 people gather. The initial plan to also have the health card checked at the entrance of shopping centers has not been successful and local shops are not affected.

The health pass is also required from 9 August for those traveling by train through France. Those who cannot show the pass are not allowed on the train and whoever is caught on the way without, risks a fine of 135 euros. The pass is also required on long-distance buses such as Flixbus and domestic flights. But don't worry, because the QR code of the European digital covid certificate is enough to open all doors.
