The one and a half meter society has had its day. Outgoing Prime Minister Rutte and Minister De Jonge of Public Health want to let go of the one and a half meter measure throughout society from Monday 20 September. The ministers are emphatically reluctant and state that it can only be achieved without setbacks. From 30 August, the 1,5 meter distance will no longer apply in MBO, HBO and at universities. However, for the first time, a maximum of 75 people per lecture room will still apply.

Zandvoort

The stands at the Grand Prix of the Netherlands at Zandvoort in the first weekend of September may be two-thirds full daily, the outgoing cabinet decided on Friday. As a result, a maximum of 3 people are welcome at Circuit Zandvoort every day on 4, 5 and 70.000 September. They must demonstrate with a QR code that they have been vaccinated, tested negative or have recently recovered from a corona infection. Last month, the cabinet put an end to all multi-day events with overnight stays, until September 1. Earlier this week it became clear that the Grand Prix of the Netherlands does not fall under this.

no compensation

The current corona measures are not an obstacle to organizing the Formula 1 race in Zandvoort, early next month. Due to the decision taken by the cabinet, Formula 1 will return to the Netherlands after an absence of 36 years. The Heineken Dutch Grand Prix, taking place on September 3, 4 and 5, is a fixed-seat sporting event. This means that the event can continue at two thirds of capacity if corona tickets, such as a vaccination certificate, are used.

In its own words, the cabinet has had no contact with Prince Bernhard, the owner of Circuit Zandvoort. Rutte also confirms once again that the organization of the race is not entitled to the compensation scheme for events. The organization has sold 105.000 tickets per day. Due to the measures, 35.000 of the 105.000 daily visitors are not allowed to come and must therefore get their money back.

mobility plan

After 36 years, Formula 1 returns to Zandvoort. On Sunday, September 5, 2021, world-famous drivers such as Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel will compete for victory during the Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix 2021. The premier class of motorsport traditionally attracts many thousands of visitors. To ensure safe and effective traffic flows, the organization of the Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix (DGP) has drawn up a Mobility Plan.

In order to steer the traffic flows around this event in the right direction, the organizer of the DGP in collaboration with the organization of Zandvoord Beyond, partners such as the central government, the provinces of Noord-Holland and Zuid-Holland, surrounding municipalities, NS, ProRail, Connexxion and PWN and the municipality of Zandvoort have drawn up a mobility plan.

The mobility plan is aimed at getting the approximately 110.000 visitors to and from the circuit safely and quickly. The plan must also ensure that the event site remains safe and traffic-free and that Zandvoort and the surrounding areas are accessible to residents, entrepreneurs and emergency services. And that the consequences for the residents of Zandvoort and other road users are as minimal as possible.
