Ikea Wilrijk starts with a free shuttle bus service to and from Antwerp city center. The project is a collaboration with Autocars De Polder that will last at least three months. According to a spokesperson for Ikea Antwerp residents are finding it increasingly difficult to find their way to the store. Ikea hopes in this way to attract more visitors and, as an additional effect, to remove car traffic from the road. Small products that you bought from them can easily be taken home on the bus and the larger products and furniture can be delivered to your home.

easy on the way

IKEA Wilrijk strengthens the mobility offer to the southern edge of Antwerp thanks to a free shuttle service. As a result, consumers enjoy a direct connection between the center of Antwerp and IKEA Wilrijk. The PÄNDELBUSS has permission to drive on the bus lanes and has no intermediate stops, so the journey takes only 25 minutes, without traffic jams.

IKEA Wilrijk employees work every day to offer their customers a unique shopping experience. The IKEA adventure does not start and end in the store, the journey to the store is now also part of that experience for the Antwerp branch. In order to offer customers a thoroughly IKEA experience, the bus was completely decorated in the IKEA house style and renamed “PÄNDELBUSS”.
