NS goes to the extreme

During the weekend of 3, 4 and 5 September, the Dutch Railways will run twelve trains an hour to and from Zandvoort. The NS will use the same number of trains as previously planned during Formula 1 in Zandvoort at the beginning of September, despite the fact that only two thirds of the original number of visitors may be present at the event. Last year the event was canceled but this year it will really happen and Verstappen will bring his Formula 1 orange fans the best days of their lives. Our Pitane Blue editors are also present these days to report from the most beautiful places on the course.

Zandvoort means a huge operation for NS, because traveling to Zandvoort by car is just about the 'stupidest' thing you can do. A train that arrives or departs every five minutes, so that 10.000 travelers can be transported per hour is a mega operation. Travelers association Rover states that fewer and shorter trains are running elsewhere in the country and asks NS to inform the traveler about this as concretely and clearly as possible. The timetable for that weekend has been tested in advance by means of a computer simulation.
